Geologic Time for Middle School
One of the more challenging topics to research, study and learn about in middle school is geologic time. Often student perception is negative of this topic before you even begin. Standing back and reviewing some of earths history over the last 4.6 billion years provides a plethora of opportunities to discuss natural disasters, extinctions, and life changing events. The following are a few resources that I enjoy using that engages students.
Walking with Monsters BBC. This program looks at life before dinosaurs. Computer animations illustrate some of the amazing creatures that once ruled the earth and struggled to survive. |
